"Deprived of meaningful work, men and women lose their reason for existence; they go stark, raving mad."
- Fyodor Dostoevsky

After graduating with my Computer Science degree from Montana State University, I began working as a software developer for RightNow Technologies based out of Bozeman Montana. RightNow is a leading provider of Customer Relations Management(CRM) software. At this job, I mostly develop on top of the .NET framework using C#.

Recently I began pursuing a Masters degree in Computer Science with an emphasis in artificial intelligence. For my thesis, I am working on a project to extract bird migration patterns from Nexrad weather radar data using machine learning techniques. A large impetus for this research is the growing support for new alternative energy sources, specifically wind farms. Although wind farms are a big step in the right direction in terms of sustainable living, they are not without cost. Wind turbines kill countless numbers of birds and bats each year. Hopefully, a better understanding of migration patterns will allow wind farms to be positioned in places and operated at times that will minimize the harsh effects they can have on our friends in the air. The project is described in more detail here.

In my free time I am an avid hunter and outdoor enthusiast. I try to advocate responsible conservation and sustainable living. I also enjoy trying new food and dabbling in the culinary arts.
